Problem statment

Centene currently has tools to plan and track progress at a product portfolio and project level, but lacks the necessary systems needed for DXE Leadership, Product Owners etc. to plan, communicate and manage a multi-year enterprise strategy. Many product owners work in excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations to track the strategy efforts for a given product.

Discovery & Research

To understand the problem space and stakeholder needs,

we conducted several discovery activities.

Facilitated workshops with leadership, product owners, and delivery teams to:

Discovery


  • Conducted stakeholder workshops to align on goals, user needs, and pain points

  • Defined personas including Executive Leaders and Product Owners

  • Identified gaps in existing tools and workflows

  • Analyzed reporting inconsistencies and fragmented data sources

Define


  • Established a unified taxonomy:

    Experience → Sub-experience → Epic → Capability → Feature

  • Defined detailed metadata for each level (objectives, KPIs, budgets, timelines)

  • Designed governance model for tracking progress and ownership

  • Aligned roadmap structure with business goals and OKRs

  • Created end-to-end UX for key modules:

    • List view, Detail view, Create/Edit flows

    • Timeline views (Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly)

    • Dashboard for KPI and progress tracking

  • Designed flexible filtering and tagging systems

  • Built scalable information architecture to handle multi-product and multi-LOB mapping

  • Ensured seamless integration flow with JIRA Align for execution tracking

Selecting an Experience, Sub-experience, Epic, or Capability opens a dedicated detail page that allows users to explore objectives, timelines, ownership, KPIs, progress, and associated roadmap elements in greater detail.

MAin Screen

This view provides a centralized and structured overview of all Experiences, Sub-experiences, Epics, and Capabilities. Designed for efficient roadmap management, it enables users to quickly review key information such as status, ownership, progress, and timelines at a glance, while allowing them to drill down into detailed insights for each roadmap entity.
